Dear Friends of JTLSD,

The Jefferson Township Board of Education passed the necessary resolutions to put a 1.00% School District Earned Income Tax levy on the November 4th, 2025 ballot.  Passage of this levy is critical to the future of our students and Jefferson Township!

Any individual or estate that receives income while a resident of a JTLSD is subject to the school district earned income tax.

An earned income tax is based on your “earned income” and includes only the following items:  employee compensation such as wages and salaries, and self-employment income from sole proprietorships and partnerships.  “Earned income” does not include items such as retirement income, interest, dividends and capital gains, and unemployment benefits.

The 1.00% earned income tax levy is expected to generate about $993,000 per year and would cost someone earning $50,000 and living in the JTLSD $500 annually.  The funds will go towards operating expenses, such as electricity, heat and salaries.  The last time the Jefferson Township Local School District had new levy funds was 2008 – 17 years ago!
10 reasons to “Invest In Our Students, Jefferson Township, and Our Futures” on November 4th, 2025:

  1. New strategic plan, June 2024, is aligning and driving our academic, organizational and process continuous improvement throughout the JTLSD.
  2. JTLSD Brand – “Learning is our Product – it is also our most important Process!
  3. JTLSD Mission – “To prepare students, in our community, to compete, succeed and excel in a complex, diverse and changing future.”.JTLSD Core Values – “Visionary Leadership, Student-Centered Excellence, Valuing People, Agility and Resilience, Organizational Learning, Management by Fact, Delivering Results.”
  4. New Agricultural Education (Ag Ed) Lab includes welding, construction and small engine repair.
  5. New 2865 sq. ft. Barn includes small animal care (goats, chickens, rabbits) and eventually large animal care.
  6. New 1593 sq. ft. Greenhouse includes hydroponics and cultivating vegetables, flowers and fruits.
  7. New Jefferson Township – MVCTC Ag Ed FFA (Future Farmers of America) chapter to which all our    9-12th grade students belong.
  8. Jr./Sr. High School Band concert held on December 5, 2024, was the first in almost fifteen years.
  9. New Preschool partnership at Blairwood Elementary with WestPark Academy.
